How to Recycle Thin Plastic Bags in Dyer County

Thin plastic bags include grocery bags, bread bags, plastic bags that hold fruit or produce bags.

Make sure your plastic bag is recyclable by looking for a #2 or a #4 symbol. Another label to look for is the how2recycle.info "Store Drop-Off" symbol. You can find examples of these symbols in the pictures of this post.

If your bag has any of these symbols, you're good to go. If you're in doubt, throw it out... Or ask us and we'll try to see if you can recycle it!

How to Recycle

  • After using the plastic bag, make sure it is clean and dry. If there are crumbs at the bottom of the bread bag, shake them out. If something spilled inside, wash it out and let it dry completely. Having it clean and dry makes recycling easier and gives those bags the best chance to be recycled.
  • Contain your plastic bags within another recyclable plastic bag. Since they can be very compact, you should be able to squeeze 50-100 bags into one bag.
  • Once the bag is full, take them to a drop-off center.
