How to Recycle Paper and Cardboard in Dyer County

Cardboard

Some cardboard cannot be recycled. This is typically waxed cardboard and soiled/wet cardboard like a greasy pizza box. Each recycling center is different so call and ask if your piece is appropriate!

For soiled boxes (like pizza boxes), you can cut away the bad part and recycle the rest or throw the whole thing in a compost pile.

    To prep the cardboard boxes:
  • Remove any plastic or styrofoam
  • Remove excess tape
  • Break down the boxes until they are flat

Paper

Most paper is recyclable as long as it's not soiled and has stickers/tape removed. If you are recyling envelopes or pasta boxes, be sure to remove the plastic windows.

Here are types of papers that are not recyclable:
  • Shredded paper. Shredded papers are too small to recycle since they can jam machines.
  • Reciepts. Most reciepts are made out of BPA and other chemicals that can contaminate products.
  • Photos and glossy magazines.
  • Parchment, butcher, or waxed paper.
  • Paper napkins / towels.
